To make a fabric bow you will need:

  • Cotton fabric (can be plain or die-cut) or any other fabric of your choice;
  • Thread and needle (the thread should be the same color or color next to the fabric);
  • Scissors for tissue;
  • Pencils;
  • Ruler or tape measure;
  • Hot glue;
  • Sewing machine.

Now that you already know what materials you need, let’s go to the types of bindings and how to make them:

How to make fabric bow and main types

1. double loop

To make a double loop, after choosing the fabric of your choice, cut out 3 rectangles with the following sizes: 16 cm x 11 cm; 12 cm × 8 cm; 7 cm x 3 cm. You can bet on other sizes too, as long as there are three rectangles of different sizes: one large, one medium, and one small.

Fold each fabric in half and turn the inside out. Sew leaving only one opening so you can turn the fabric right side out. When you’re done, rotate the three rectangles on the right side of the fabric.

You can use a toothpick to trim the ends of your sewn rectangle.

Lay the two larger loops on top of each other. The greatest of all must be among them. Secure them exactly in the middle with your thumb and forefinger. The last rectangle you made should curl up in the middle of the loop, right where you are squeezing.

Secure with a pencil, sew and cut the leftover fabric. If you want, you can pass hot glue to make sure the center rectangle is securely attached. Your double loop is ready!

2. Big bow

Start by cutting a large strip of fabric. The ideal is to bet on 50 cm width. Fold the fabric in half and make a rectangle. The fabric should be turned inside out and needled. Sew leaving only one opening to turn the fabric on the right side.

Fold the rectangle in half, join the two ends and sew. Pinch your rectangle exactly in the middle and form a loop. Cut a smaller strip of fabric and sew in the center of the loop.

If the goal is to do a hairstyle, leave a space between the seams to place a clip in.

3. Single loop

Cut three strips of fabric. A bigger one, a medium one and a smaller one. The width should be the same, which changes in length.

Glue the ends of the larger strip or sew if you prefer. Pinch the larger strip in the middle and use the smaller strip to create the rectangular loop. Stick or sew. You should knead the middle strip in the middle and sew or glue it with hot glue next to another part of the loop.

Cut off the tips of the triangles to finalize your arch.

Another option is to follow the giant loop step by step, but with smaller pieces of fabric.
